Relief Society - A Restoration of an Ancient Form

“A Restoration of an Ancient Pattern”

Although the name may be modern date,

the institution is of ANCIENT ORIGIN.

We were told by our martyred prophet

that the same organization EXISTED

Educate a MOTHER/WOMAN...You Educate a Whole Family

Quote By: President Spencer W. Kimball

"As I visit the missions in the world, I hear the young men bear their testimonies.  They say, 'My mother told me this. . . . my mother is prime, she's first.'  She really is first, and if all women could understand this, they would want to have families instead of following the present fad . . . It has been said that 'When you educate a man, you educate an individual, but when you educate a woman, you educate a whole family' (Dr. Charles D. McIver).  We want our women to be well educated, for children may not recover from the ignorance of their mothers" (Charge to Religious Educators, 1983, p. 43-47).

Alma 57:21

"Yea, and they did obey and observe to perform every word of command with exactness; yea, and even according to their faith it was done unto them; and I did remember the words which they said unto me that their mothers had taught them."

Ribbon Wreath Plates

Ribbon Wreath Plates

Pile Treats on these Ribbon Wreath Plates

Hello my little blog readers.  Happy Tuesday!  This a fun and simple way to dress up a paper plate when you share your Holiday treats (or just because you want to be a little more festive), because we all know the Holidays are a little more special with yummy treats.

Supplies for Holiday Ribbon Plates:
  • paper plates, any color or size (you can use plastic plates, but they’re harder to punch)
  • hole punch
  • ribbon, craft ribbon or curling ribbon
  • treats
Punch holes about every inch all the way around. Then pick a spot to start and thread the ribbon through each hole.
There are a few ways you can thread the ribbon. It can be up and down or around and around. Both look pretty, so it just depends on your preference.
Once the ribbon has been through each hole, make sure both ends are even to tie it together in a bow. Now fill them with some of your favorite treats and they’re ready for family and friends! Happy Holidays!
You can do this pretty much any time you wanted to dress something up….

For example:

Valentine's Day

St.Patty's Day

4th of July

Anything!!!!  I’m so glad I saw this today….it’s such a cheap yet cute way to dress up a treat plate.

In Memory of our God, Our Religion...

Quote By: Ezra Taft Benson
Conference Report
October 1966
pp. 120-125

"Of course, the war in heaven over free agency is now being waged here on earth, and
there are those today who are saying "Look, don't get involved in the fight for freedom.
Just live the gospel."  That counsel is DANGEROUS, SELF-CONTRADICTORY, UNSOUND.

Now, part of the reason we may not have sufficient priesthood bearers to save the
Constitution let alone to shake the powers of hell, is because unlike Moroni, I fear, our
souls do not JOY in keeping our country FREE, and we are not firm in the faith of Christ, nor
have we sworn with an oath to defend our rights and the liberty of our country.

Moroni raised a title of liberty and wrote upon it these words: "In memory of our God,
our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives and our children".  Why didn't he
write upon it: "Just live your religion; there's no need to concern yourselves about your freedom, your peace, your wives, or your children"?  The reason he didn't do this was
because all these things were a PART OF HIS RELIGION, as they are of our
religion today.  Should we counsel people, "Just live your religion.  There's no need to get
involved in the fight for freedom"?  No, we should not, because our stand for freedom
is a most basic part of our religion; this stand helped get us to this earth, and our
REACTION TO FREEDOM in THIS LIFE will have eternal consequences.
Man has many duties, but he has NO EXCUSE that can compensate

I AM the WAY!

"I Am the Way"

"'How can we know the way?' asked Thomas, as he sat with his fellow apostles and their Lord at the table after the supper on the memorable night of the betrayal; and Christ's
divine answer was: 'I am the way, the truth, and the life...' (John 14:5-6). And so He is!
He is the SOURCE of our comfort, the INSPIRATION of our life, the AUTHOR of our salvation.  If we want to KNOW our relationship to God, we go to JESUS CHRIST.  If we would know the TRUTH of the immortality of the soul, we have it exemplified in the Savior's RESURRECTION.

"If we desire to learn the IDEAL LIFE to lead among our fellowmen, we can find a PERFECT EXAMPLE in the life of Jesus.  Whatsoever our noble desires, our lofty aspirations, our ideals in any phase of life, we can look to CHRIST and find PERFECTION.  So, in SEEKING a STANDARD for moral manhood,
we need only to go to the Man of Nazareth and in HIM find embodied ALL VIRTUES that go to

"To learn of CHRIST necessitates the study of the SCRIPTURES
and the TESTIMONIES of those who KNOW Him. We come
to KNOW HIM through PRAYER and the inspiration and REVELATION
that God has promised to those who KEEP HIS
